Bamboo is a species of woody grass. b41 uses bamboo in a relatively unprocessed form – the material’s inherent light weight and natural strength lend it to packaging. With a woody grain, b41 can be used as it is, or cut and laminated to achieve a number of visual effects.
composition & production
Bamboo is notorious for its aggressive growth, which accounts for its astonishing yield and a carbon absorption rate double that of most trees. And unlike trees, which are harvested after decades of growth, bamboo can be harvested every few years. Furthermore, bamboo will regenerate from the roots – its root networks helping to prevent soil erosion.
post consumer
Naturally compostable and biodegradable.
limitations
b41’s natural grain cannot be removed or hidden.
accreditations
As bamboo is a grass, it cannot qualify for FSC certification, but the material is recognized as inherently more sustainable than wood.
